Nat Geo turned their sights on an interactive exploration center aimed at combining elements from theme parks, museums, gaming, and role-playing into an immersive and educational family experience.

Achievements

The NGUX Achievement System is a core element in the adventure that young explorers will embark on as they experience the attractions and activities in the park.

Guests will be able to obtain and track their achievement progress through Base Camp Field Journals, which are digital journals that capture your activity throughout the park. There are over 450 Achievements, 34 Missions and 5 Ultimate Explorer Patches!

Field Journal

The Field Journal is your digital guide to everything you have completed throughout the park.

Guests can track their achievements, mission progress, update their avatar and view photos they have captured through Photo Safari camera stations located throughout the park. It was very important that we communicate, visually, the progression of achievements. Each achievement has three tiers:

- Unlocked / First time acquired
- Acquired multiple times, associated with a number (5-10)
- Gold / Ultimate (10+)

Mission Card Illustrations

Missions are digital cards that give the guest a set of achievements to gather.

Missions allowed content creators to focus on educating the guests about specific topics. Mission cards were sorted in easy, medium and hard categories which were defined by the number of achievements and by visually changing the type of card backing.

Achievement Patches

Physical items were awarded to guests who unlocked multi-level tiered achievements for all of the park attractions.

Physical patches promoted another level of park mastery. Each patch was awarded based on the amount of completed gold missions, with a total of five collectible patch tiers:

- LVL 1: Journeyman
- LVL 2: Skilled
- LVL 3: Intrepid
- LVL 4: Master
- LVL 5: Illustrious
