Multiplayer Medals

Medals are rewards in the multiplayer arena that showcase special achievements.

I worked closely with the Multiplayer Design team, alongside our UI team, to create a medal system that could be broken down into separate medal categories. I started with a similar approach to what was done for Halo 4, by using a layering system that was made up of three parts: background category, midground category and foreground icon. After several playtests and design reviews, we decided to flatten the medal language into just a two layer system: background category and foreground icon. This created a visually distinct and broad system that allowed for a lot of unique assets.

Weapon and Vehicle Icons

HUD and Gameplay icons to show equipped weapons, item pickups and operable vehicles.

I worked closely with the Hard Surface team, alongside our UI Art Lead, to create a set of weapon and vehicle iconography.

Difficulty Illustrations

A difficulty changes the number, type, and vitality of enemies in Campaign mode.

There are four difficulty ratings: Easy, Normal, Heroic, and Legendary, from the easiest to hardest. Below are two sets of difficulty icons. The top are rendered in a more detailed and illustrated style while the bottom set are more graphic to parallel those that were created for Halo 4.
